Throughout this semester, I have been working on four projects in course ENC2135. After every project, I can improve on it even more, but I choose the first project for revision. It is not only because it worth more points but mostly because I notice that in this project I made many mistakes that I could of avoid but didn't avoid. I end up with a grade that is not meeting my expectation but after reading Professor Bertha's comment I notice that my essay was really a mess. Physically speaking, I thought that my format was in the correct position until I went back and saw that my annotated bib and the essay has a lot of problems like misleading indents and out-of-order citations. I also have a problem with not focusing on the main points and not being very clear with my intention to the audience. After reflecting on my mistakes, I went back and corrected the formats but there is a slit difference in the pdf version where one of the citations is not going well but the rest is unified. For the essay, I went back and added a little more to make things smoother and rearrange one of the sections that I thought might also be misleading when it didn't go along with the rest of the paragraph. I believe that those adjustments will make the essay more fluent and send the message more accurately.
In this class, it is not just about projects. we also have assignments that went along and provide assistance in completing the essay and project. Something I really like when doing the project is the cheat sheets that were provided, it helps me keep track of the things that I should include. There was also an assignment that I think is really good practice before doing the project because it helps you get into the mode and provides an idea of what you will be doing. An example of the assignment is posted in the blog below. But it wasn't just those assignments that were beneficial, I think that the reflection assignment after every project help us focus on the mistake and things to improve upon. I personally think that in all the lessons we have learned, rhetorical strategies weigh the most. In every project, rhetorical strategies apply and it is very useful in analyzing sources and artifacts. For example, the annotated bibliography and the second project requires rhetorical device to analyze the two artifacts. The genre was also a big part of the essay, I have a better understanding of the different tones that should be used when speaking to different parties or audiences, which really helps in the third project with the three different pieces. I believe that from the first project to the last project, not only was my grade going in a positive slope but also shows my improvement from beginning to the end. The mistakes made in the first project are not made in the second project.

I think that compared to project 1, project 2 is more clear on the intentions and has a better flow. I have posted project 2 and the original copy of project 1 below as comparison.
Beginning Rhetorical RationaleIn this assignment is mostly helpful for project three, I think that this is like a basic general introduction that help guide us into the project. Rhetorical rationale is a big part of the project so a little entre before the main dish help me follow along. I posted my work below for reference. The idea that I am focusing on is to bring out the importance of finance because many students in finance majors are not really interested or rarely want to be in the financial field once they graduated. So my first genre is a poster for a club that would help solve their concerns regarding this major and provide opportunities for internships, etc. The main purpose of this club is to get them to realize how useful finance is and provide financial assistance, putting skills into practice. Either way, this genre would contain all three rhetorical rationales. Logos is quite obvious as the club itself is mostly using factual information. Ethos is also present if there is a supervisor or professor in this field and the sponsors we corporates with to get those internship opportunities are credible. Using a poster with strong colors will have an appeal to the audience. The colors are mostly used to catch the interest of the audience but it would make them feel encouraged by the bright colors. The other two genres would be mostly logos as one is a glossary and the other PowerPoint. Glossary is self-explanatory, used to update some terminology so that the audience is not confused. Ethos in this case would be the sources I use to find those definitions. PowerPoint will have a lot more information and may contain pathos for the pictures and images I use. I would probably also include a voice-over to explain it because no one would look at it if it is long and wordy. In addition, pathos would be more clear for the voice over. Citation style Scavenger HuntThis assignment is a group work activity and composed of 12 questions that asks you about the format of different types of citations. I think that this assignment is really helpful when doing project because it is not only a brain refresher but is is a reference that you can go back and check.
I am proud of my posters and PowerPoint in this project. Although the first two project is much more formal and taking more consideration, project three is the one that I enjoy making the most. Instead of essays and long block of texts, I much rather enjoy a little PowerPoint or projects with visual elements.
The reason I choose project one instead of revising project 2 is because I saw that I have carelessly mess up the format and silly mistakes that I should avoid before handing it in. It is also the project that I spend the most time on, so I hope to fix it. Mistakes I made include unclear format, bad indents, and messy citations. I have also made the main points too brief and general. I believe that the revised version is making much more sense than the first version and with proper formats now.
