Intertextuality- It is when one text make reference to another either indirectly or directly. The three types of intertextuality- Indirect intertextuality- The producer is unavoidably inspired by everything they ever seen before, so traces of other text will be found in their own. Direct or deliberate intertextuality- There are specific references to another text, usually it is on purpose for the audience to realize something. Accidental- It is when the audience realize a connection to other text based on their own prior knowledge and the producer weren’t intentionally making a reference. Examples- This scene in Frozen where Anna sings the song "For the First Time in Forever," the painting in the background in referencing the painting "The Swing" by Jean-Honoré Fragonard. Anna herself is also mimicking the pose in this painting when he jumps in the air. This is another scene in Frozen, two of the people in the crowd resemble Rapunzel and Flynn from the movie Tangle. They are walking around like other guest when Anna gets to go out of the castle for the first time. In Beauty and the Beast, this scene where Bell reads the story of Romeo and Juliet is a reference on Shakespeare.
